GRAND FALLS, Mai 17, 2024 - At its monthly public meeting, council announced the details of the new incentive program designed to promote economic growth and development throughout the Grand Falls Regional Municipality.
"Grand Falls is fortunate to have a strong business and entrepreneurial community. It was therefore essential for us, as a municipal council, to revisit our position and adopt new incentives that would encourage new investment to ensure the sustainable development of our economy," explained Bertrand Beaulieu, Mayor of the Grand Falls Regional Municipality.
The establishment of this incentive program is part of the initiatives targeted by the 2023-2027 Municipal Strategic Plan, which aims for economic prosperity with community benefits.
1. Commercial and industrial businesses: Incentive program to encourage new commercial and industrial properties by granting an annual financial contribution ($0.20 incentive per $100 of assessment) based on the complete property tax assessment increase after the construction is finished for a period of five years.
2. Housing Units: Incentive program to encourage new housing units by granting an annual financial contribution ($0.20 incentive per $100 of assessment) based on the complete property tax assessment increase after the construction is finished for a period of five years.
3. Water and sewer: incentive program to provide free connection to the water and sewer system to encourage the construction of a commercial, industrial, or multifamily housing or condominium rental.
"This incentive program offers great opportunities for interested parties and is a first step in establishing a range of programs and services that support our municipality's vision of an involved, progressive and active community that values generational harmony and diversity," added Mayor Beaulieu.
Full details and criteria for the incentive program will soon be available on the municipality's website.
