On January 30, 2025, the Grand Falls Police Force received a report regarding a new scam in the area.
The scam involves an individual pretending to be an employee of a financial institution and targeting elderly people. The person impersonating the employee of a financial institution informs the target that their bank has been compromised by an employee, and that they must withdraw all their money and move it elsewhere. The impersonator then asks the target to bring the money to their home. The impersonator will later come pick up the cash at their residence.
The Grand Falls Police Force is asking the public to remain vigilant against this type of scam and to report it immediately to the police at 506-475-7767.
