GRAND FALLS, January 29th, 2024 - The Grand Falls Regional Municipality has learned of the death of the former mayor of Town of Grand Falls, Mr. Gérald Carroll, on the morning of January 27 at the age of 88.
Mr. Gérald Carroll was mayor of Grand Falls from 1980 to 1986 and from 2001 to 2004. Mr. Carroll left his mark on the community by being actively involved, among others, in the Boy Scouts community, the Richelieu Club and the municipal council as councilor and then as mayor. Under the reign of this visionary entrepreneur, the Town of Grand Falls has seen several projects, including the Farmers' Market and the development of the Madawaska Road, to name just a few.
“The community is losing a great leader, a man committed until the last hour who did not hesitate to make a difference in our community, and on several levels, we are very grateful.” said the current mayor of the Grand Falls Regional Municipality, Mr. Bertrand Beaulieu.
On behalf of the entire population of Grand Falls, the municipal council and administrative team offer their most sincere condolences to Mr. Carroll's family, friends and loved ones.
To honor the memory of this politician who left his mark on the history of Grand Falls, flags have been flown at half-mast in the municipality.
