GRAND FALLS, August 5 - The Mayor of the Grand Falls Regional Municipality held a press conference early this afternoon, to inform residents of updates on municipal services following the severe weather that hit the municipality on the evening of August 4.

"We invite people to exercise caution in their travels as the various municipal crews work to clean up the numerous tree, brush and branch debris from roads, the bike path and other municipal sites. Everyone's safety is our top priority."

The public is asked to report any incidents, fallen trees or damage to municipal infrastructure through the complaints portal (https://www.grandsault.com/signaler-un-probleme). Some minor detours are possible throughout the municipality, including McCormick Road, which is partially closed to traffic. Some traffic lights may also be out of order due to power failure.

Also, for an undetermined period, the steps at La Rochelle Center will be closed. (UPDATE - August 7, 2024 - the stairs have been cleared and are now safe for visitors to access)

For fallen utility poles or wires, call 1-800-663-6272, and for emergencies, call 9-1-1.
